PHMSA Season Update

PHMSA Families:

The past several months have been very difficult on a national, state and community level due to Covid-19.  The Board of Directors of PHMSA has waited as long as possible to make a decision on our fall recreational and select programs but decided at our meeting on Monday that our fall programs could not run as usual.

This action in unprecedented; for decades we've been offering this community a place to play soccer for our children, so to cancel the fall recreation season was a very hard decision, yet the right one as the safely and well-being of our kids and volunteers is our top priority.  In lieu of our fall season, we are excited to be partnering with Prestige Soccer Academy to offer a 10-week academy style training camp run by professional coaches.  The camp will offer two (1 hour)  training sessions each week at fields in Martinez and Pleasant Hill. Training cohorts will be organized by standard PHMSA age groups (i.e. U6, U8, etc) and be capped at 11 kids and 1 coach per group to align with current Contra Costa County safety standards.

The camp will start the first week in September and last through early November.  Space will be limited to 750 kids.  If your child is currently on the waitlist for the fall season, you will receive an email activating them from the waitlist.  You will then complete registration including paying the registration fee.  The registration fee will be $160, which includes the $25 AYSO annual fee.  Priority will be given to players on the waitlist, but we do anticipate that there will be additional space in each division.  If you are not currently on the waitlist you can register at www.ayso281.org.  After the registration period is complete in late August, you will receive notifications about your training cohort, Prestige Coach and practice times/location. We also recognize that safety continues to be on the top of everyone’s mind; Prestige has developed rigorous safety protocols to help ensure the health and wellbeing of our kids and parents from registration temperature monitoring through daily equipment sanitation.  Specific details will be sent out after registration, and in later August, PHMSA’s acting Regional Coordinator Scott Schulze and Prestige’s director Dave Adams will be holding a series of online sessions to review in detail and offer parents a chance to ask questions and address any concerns they may have. For any immediate questions, please send an email to [email protected]
