Additional details about the tryouts

Players are required to attend at least one tryout, but are strongly encouraged to attend as many as possible.

Our goal is to have teams formed and an initial communication to selected players prior to Thanksgiving.

Practices will start in January, and teams will practice twice a week.

The season will run through Memorial Day Weekend in May, and games could go in to the first week of June.

Teams will play in a Select league against other AYSO regions with games on weekends throughout the Bay Area.

Game locations could include Concord, Walnut Creek, Davis, Manteca, American Canyon, Antelope as well as other locations.

Teams will be expected to play in up to 5 tournaments, which could include:
   President’s Cup – February – San Jose/Sunnyvale
   PHMSA Soccerfest – March – Pleasant Hill/Martinez
Comstock Shootout – April – Carson City, Nevada
Pacifica Fog Classic – May – Pacifica
Concord Cup – May – Concord
Davis World Cup – Memorial Day Weekend (May) – Davis

Cost has not been finalized yet, but should be in the range of $500-$550.  This includes uniforms (2 full sets plus a warmup jacket), tournament entry fees, player insurance, field rental cost as well as league registration fees.

The Spring Select program requires a higher level of commitment from both players and families than what is expected in the Fall Core season.

All eligible players (10U and up) are encouraged to apply. Please note that to be eligible for the Select program a player must be enrolled in the current fall season or primary program and must have participated in at least 50% of their fall team games. Players can only participate in Select in the same division played in the prior fall season.

ABOUT AYSO SELECT

The AYSO Select program is an opportunity for interested, enthusiastic and motivated players to improve their skills in a more competitive environment while still following the Six Philosophies of AYSO (Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship and Player Development). By providing a more competitive program for our 10U through 14U players, the intention to provide an environment to develop to a level not always possible through the Fall Core program.

Participation on the teams requires an increased level of commitment from both the players and parents. To enable player development, players are expected to regularly attend practices and games and display a sense of responsibility towards the coaches and their teammates.

The Select program game schedule runs from January through May/June with teams will participating in a Select Spring league and tournament play. Some games involve travel and tournaments can include Sunday games. Suggested tournaments may include Pleasant Hill/Martinez, Concord, Pacifica and the Comstock Shootout in Carson City, NV. Comstock is a premier tournament and is usually the highlight of the Select season for many teams!

Program Details

2020 Spring Select Tryout Registration is now open.

AYSO follows US Soccer’s Birth Year registration, and Division naming convention ##U versus U##. The "U" means "Under" and the ## is aligned to the age the players will be by the end of 2019.  So rather than being U10 (Under 10), players will now be 10U ("10 and Under"). Please refer to the Age Guide below to determine your child's Division for the upcoming season.
