Fall 2024

PHMSA is excited to announce our Fall 2024 season! Teams will be formed in July, but don't wait to register as many age groups reach their cap and players registering after May 31 may be waitlisted. Please see below pertinent information about the season, as well as answers to commonly asked questions.  Should you have additional questions at this juncture, please email them to [email protected].

What will be the format of the season?
For our Fall Core Season, we form teams based on birth year, with practices starting in August and games starting in September and running through mid-November.

What age group will my child be placed in?
AYSO structures teams and age groups based on birth year.  The team formations will be as follows:

SchoolYard/Playground – Birth year 2020 and 2021
U6 – birth year 2019
U8 – birth years 2017 and 2018
U10 – birth years 2015 and 2016
U12 – birth years 2013 and 2014
U14 – birth years 2011 and 2012
U19 - birth years 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, and 2006

When will I be notified what team my child is on and when practices will start?
Your coach will reach out to you with details and to schedule a team meeting in July.

How much does the 2024 Fall Session cost?
The cost for the season will be $172.75.  The fee breakdown is as follows:
     -  PHSMA Registration Fee - $145:  Covers the shared cost of the league, including uniforms, field costs, awards, coach/referee training, insurance, and equipment
     -  AYSO National Fees - $25:  Fee charged by AYSO for each player every year. This fee is nonrefundable
     -  Credit Card processing fee - $2.75

Prices increase by $40 for any registrations after June 1st, 2024.

When will the season start?
Practices will start in August, with a weeknight and weekend practice.  Games will start in September after Labor Day and run through mid-November based on age group.  All games will be played on Saturdays. Weekend practices will stop once games commence. Your team coach will communicate your practice schedule in late July and game schedules will be released in early September.

When does Schoolyard/Playground start?
SchoolYard and Playground are Academy style programs and will only have one weekend training session. The programs are run by trained coaches for 10 weekly training sessions. They will be on Sundays. The first sessions will be on Sunday, September 8th. Field location finalized in mid-August and populated in training calendars. Your child will be provided a ball, jersey and training shorts at their first scheduled trainings sessions.

Where will games / practices take place?
All games and practices will be held at various schools and parks in Pleasant Hill and Martinez.

Can I request specific dates, times and locations for practices?
No...with over 1,000 kids in the program, we cannot accommodate individual scheduling requests.

Can I make a buddy request?

No, buddy requests will not be allowed.  The only exceptions will be coaches and siblings.

What is your refund policy?
Registration fees ($145) will be refunded in full for all requests made before 8/1/24.  1/2 of registration fees ($72.00) will be refunded if requested between 8/1/24 and 9/1/24.  No refunds will be given for any requests made after 9/1/24.

How do I register?
You need to access your account at and follow registration instructions.

What gear does my child need?
Your child should have soccer cleats and shin guards. A team uniform, including a jersey, shorts and socks will be provided.

How can I volunteer?
You can register to be a volunteer coach, referee, or countless other positions during the registration process.  We absolutely need as many coach/referee volunteers as possible to ensure we can put on a meaningful program for all players.  We also have openings on our board of directors for a variety of positions.  If interested, please email [email protected].

Volunteering helps your child's team in accumulating the necessary points that all teams need to accrue throughout the season, and for 10U+ teams to qualify for our PHMSA cup at the end of the season. Learn more about the Team Points Program.

What will the safety protocols be?
PHMSA and our BOD will actively monitor updated guidance issued by both the CDC and Contra Costa County and will provide explicit guidelines prior to the start of practices and games. We will always error on the side of caution as the safety of our players, coaches and referees will continue to be our #1 priority.
