Spring Training Academy
We will provide an update on the 3/30 session after we have had an opportunity to assess the field conditions.
UPDATE MARCH 29: 1. The website lists our break as being 4/2-4/6, this was a copy/paste error from last year as Easter did not fall within Spring Break last year. We will offer a "bonus" session this Sunday 4/2 (weather permitting), for anyone who is around. Session times will remain the same. Location is TBD based on field conditions. There will be no sessions on 4/4, 4/6 or 4/9.
2. Right now, it looks like we may be able to fit in 16 of the originally planned sessions. Based on that we will plan on issuing vouchers for Fall Core. If you don't plan to play Fall Core for any reason, let us know and we'll figure something out. We will plan to hold our final session on Sunday June 4th.
3. Assuming it stops raining at some point and they are able to start mowing the Pleasant Hill Middle School field we will plan to host our remaining sessions there. We are looking at other potential locations within Pleasant Hill/Martinez as a back-up.
4. If you have suggestions on how things could be done better or differently, please consider joining the PHMSA board. I know it's easier to just point out everything we are doing wrong, and I know you don't think you have time - but please consider being a part of the future of PHMSA. We have several open positions and a few people who would like to "retire" once they find a replacement. Many of us on the board no longer have kids who play for PHMSA, but continue to serve because of the value that soccer and PHMSA have brought to our families.
Registration for our Spring Academy is now closed. We anticipate opening registration for our Fall Core Program in a few weeks.
What will be the format of the season? The spring academy will consist of two hourly training sessions each week for 10 weeks (20 overall training sessions). The training sessions will be run by professionally licensed coaches from AMO Soccer Academy and focus on technical and tactical development. When will the season start? The 2022 Spring Academy will start on Sunday, March 12. If rain forces us to cancel multiple sessions, we will consider extending through the end of May; we will cease training from 4/2-4/6 in observance of Spring Break. What is the training schedule? Players will be grouped by age. The training sessions will be held on Sundays and either Tuesdays (boys) or Thursdays (girls).

Where will the sessions be held? All sessions will be held at Pleasant Hill Middle School.
How much does it cost? Cost is $180 and includes a jersey and a ball.
What gear does my child need? Your child should have soccer cleats and shin guards. A jersey will be provided at the first training sessions. A ball will be provided during the first training session and should be brought to every practice.
Are volunteers needed? Sessions are run by professional coaches so we do not need volunteer coaches. We do, however, need someone to take over as Spring Academy coordinator so that this program may continue in the future.
