45 YEARS OF SOCCER
This Fall Season marks the 45th anniversary of PHMSA bringing AYSO soccer to the Pleasant Hill and Martinez Communities. To celebrate, PHMSA is getting a new look – a new logo! And not just one but TWO looks to show off on all our PHMSA gear….45 never looked so good!

The new logo makes a nod to the past by incorporating the same shield shape and elements from the previous design. It has been updated to a more modern look, and 6 stars have been added to represent AYSO’s 6 Core Philosophies.

Blue is our standard logo - white used as an alternative.

SIGN ME UP!
Registration opens Wednesday April 1, 2026

Set a reminder to get your player(s) registered early. Early Bird registration for 6U – 19U is $165 per player. Late registration is $200 after May 31. Playground/Schoolyard is $100.

PHMSA offers opportunities for all players ages 3 and up:
Playground & Schoolyard – for our littlest players! AYSO’s Playground/Schoolyard is a child development program. The objective of this program is to help develop a child’s Fundamental Motor Skills (FMS) in collaboration with parents and guardians, using soccer as a common thread. Season starts in September.

6U – 19U Fall Core – PHMSA’s Fall Core Program is a recreational soccer league open to players of all skill levels. Kids learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and soccer fundamentals in a fun, family-friendly environment. The season consists of practices, Saturday matches, and for players 10U and up our PHMSA Tournament! Season starts in August.

For more information about PHMSA programs please CLICK HERE.

Please be aware of the AYSO age group update: Starting in the 2026-27 season, AYSO will determine age groups using a seasonal year (August 1 – July 31) instead of a calendar year (read the announcement).

As a result of this transition, some players may remain in the same age group they were in last season for a third year, while others may move up to the next age group after only one season. PHMSA does not accept requests to move players up or down divisions.

BUDDY UP
The “Buddy” question is the TOP question we get asked every year “Can I request a buddy on my team?” and the answer is yes – but only for registered Coach and Referee Volunteers.  The Volunteers may request to pair with each other to get their players on the same team.  Volunteer pairings are the only buddy requests PHMSA accepts.

Buddy Pairings Allowed by Division
6U – Coach/Assistant Coach

8U – Coach/Assistant Coach OR Coach/Referee

10U and up – Coach/Assistant Coach, Coach/Referee OR Coach/Assistant Coach/Referee (to triple buddy with a referee the referee must be registered in Sports Connect and completed online training by 7/1/26. Triple buddies must include a referee)

Make your buddy requests early, requests made after 7/1 cannot be guaranteed. Please confirm your pairings will be registering to play in Fall Core 2026 and be registering to volunteer before entering their names into the system. Pairings are only honored when the volunteer is registered as a coach or referee. No triple pairings in 6U/8U.

GET IN THE GAME
AYSO is an all-volunteer organization, from coaches, referees, board members and beyond, AYSO can only run successfully when families are involved. To ensure our region runs smoothly, our PHMSA families are expected to contribute to our volunteer program at some level. Please take time to check out our Volunteer Page to see how you can best help your team for the fall season. PHMSA can only thrive with your support!

IN WITH THE NEW
Did you know AYSO is set up by regions, areas and sections?! PHMSA is Region 281, in Section 2 Area C. PHMSA Region 281 is run by the PHMSA Regional Board, and above that is Area 2C, run by the Area Board. Our area consists of PHMSA, Concord, Mt. Diablo, American Canyon, and Delta/Rio Vista. For those of you that have interplayed or gone to Area Cup you have visited some of the other regions in our area.

Recently our Area Board voted in a new Area Director – Jeremie Ginelli. He is a seasoned volunteer in the soccer community, has had kids in the PHMSA program, and has been very active in the Martinez Unified School District. We look forward to seeing what the future brings for Area 2C with Jeremie at the helm.
